Over 300 Students Participate in Inter-School Cultural Competition to Commemorate Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birth Anniversary

The South Lawn of the Wangduechhoeling Palace came alive today as the Wangduechhoeling Palace Museum and Cultural Centre organized an Inter-School Cultural Competition among primary and lower secondary schools of Bumthang Dzongkhag to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.

Eight schools from across Bumthang participated in the competition, showcasing their talents in the categories of Zhungdra, Boedra, and Rigsar. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to winners in the various categories. Kharsa Primary School was declared the Overall Champion School.

The celebration was graced by Dasho Dzongda, Bumthang, as the Chief Guest and attended by officials from the Dzongkhag, school principals, teachers, and more than 300 students. The program began with the offering of Zhabten for Her Majesty, followed by the offering of khadhar and a ceremonial cake-cutting.

In his address, Dasho Dzongda highlighted Her Majesty’s invaluable contributions in the service of the nation and spoke of how she continues to inspire the people of Bhutan through her kindness, compassion, and leadership.

The event was organized with three key objectives: firstly, to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, who is also the Royal Patron of the Wangduechhoeling Palace Museum and Cultural Centre; secondly, to promote Bhutanese culture and traditions by encouraging young people to appreciate and engage with their rich cultural heritage; and thirdly, to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity.

The Wangduechhoeling Palace Museum and Cultural Centre hopes to make this competition an annual event and further strengthen its role in promoting cultural education and youth engagement in Bhutan.
